SHED V2

Shed explores the emotional labor of women and the shedding of societal expectations. Through interviews, I gather their stories of dance training, childhood, and current endeavors—what haunts them, where they feel most confident, and their insecurities. These conversations shape phrase work and improvisational prompts, allowing the dancers to reclaim their agency through screen dance.

Shed v2 features Charlotte Qaqish (previously Kayla Qaqish), a dance major at UNC Greensboro. In this version of shed, Charlotte battles feelings of being intellectually, socially, and physically behind—particularly in dance. As she works through insecurities about specific parts of her body and her past, each discarded layer of clothing becomes a physical manifestation of release.
